To help my two-year-old son learn his ABC's, we declared February to be "Alphabet Month" in our household. Each day, we focused on a different letter, using books, songs, foods, clothing, and activities that began with that letter to make learning about it lots of fun! He also made a collage for each individual letter. He colored it, then glued on pictures we found in magazines to help him remember what words begin with that letter. We taped them all to his bedroom door, so now he has his own complete alphabet to look at. Finally, at the end of the month, I made him a photo book using pictures I took of him each day to help him remember Alphabet Month and his ABC's. He absolutely loved all of the activities, and by the end of the month, he was fluent in reciting his alphabet. It was a great way to structure our days and to make learning fun for everyone! Here are our sample "lesson plans" for each day...feel free to borrow and change them to make the alphabet fun for your own little learners!
