Washi Tape Coasters

Raise your hand if you love washi tape!
Ooh, ooh, I do!
As soon as I heard that Target was selling it, I ran right out and got me some in every available color.  Then, when I saw Crystal's fun washi tape coasters post last week over at A Pumpkin and a Princess, I couldn't rest until I made some of my own.

You're going to be shocked when you hear how incredibly expensive these were to make...those tiles cost me a whopping 16 cents a piece!  Actually, since I had a Lowe's gift card, they were really free.  Honestly, these are one of the cheapest and easiest possible crafts to make.  Here's how:

Materials:
plain white tiles {you want white b/c the tape is kind of see-thru}
washi tape {available at Target in the office supply section}
scissors

That's it!

Then, just choose a color/pattern of tape and start applying it.  You can do diagonal stripes like we did, vertical ones, or pretty much anything you want.  Just wrap the ends around the back of the tile to secure the tape.

I made the first two myself, but when Little Crafter caught me, he wanted to be in on the action.  So, for the remaining two tiles, he designed the pattern all by himself and even helped me apply some of the strips.
If he can do it, you can do it!  Here's one of his two masterpieces:

Here are all four; my two are on the top and LC's are on the bottom.  Which one's your fave?
The final step is to hot glue a coordinating piece of felt onto the bottom so they don't scratch up your table {ask me how I know this...}

They don't match anything in my living room {thanks to the ugly couch}, but they make me smile, so they get to live there anyway!

What about you?  What have you made with washi tape?

  2. These are so cute. I love seeing that LC can do things because it gives me confidence to try. How hilarious is that, lol. I've never seen washi tape (we don't have Target yet) but I'll be keeping my eyes open for it.
