Egg Hunt: The Answers and the Winners

Friends, I sure do hope you enjoyed the first annual Egg Hunt here at One Artsy Mama as much as I did!  Little Crafter and I had a great time hiding the eggs for you, and it seems like most of you who commented enjoyed searching for them {except for maybe that elusive #14}.

So that you can sleep at night, here are the answers.  Feel free to click on the links and go see the eggs for yourselves {I promise they're really there} between now and April 5, when I take them down.  Little Crafter knows where they all are!

We had  participants 56 who submitted responses, and 27 of them had all 15 eggs correct.  Those 27 people were entered into a random drawing for the three prizes.  And the winners are...

Egg Hunt 2013!

Easter is just around the corner, so I thought we'd have a little festive fun here at One Artsy Mama!

I've hidden 15 eggs all over this blog, and it's your job to find them!  The eggs are numbered from 1-15, so you can keep track of which ones you've already found. 

Here's how to play:

1. Number a piece of paper from 1-15.

2. As you find eggs, write down the color that corresponds with each number.  For example, if you find number 8 and it's pink {hint: it's not}, you'd go to #8 on your paper and write "pink."

3. When you're done, or you have found as many as you care to look for, come back to this response form and tell me the correct colors for each of the eggs!

Don't have time to finish now?  Just keep your list, come back later, and remember to enter your answers anytime before 11:59 PM EST on March 31!

Where are the eggs?

Wouldn't you like to know!  I've hidden them all over the blog.  They could be on any page you can get to from the top menu, as well as in any past post!  Hehe...have fun!  I have NOT put them in any Shine on Fridays or giveaway posts.

Here's a sample!  They are either pink, green, purple, or yellow, and numbered from 1-15 {so this one doesn't count!}

How to win:

The person who correctly identifies the colors of the most eggs wins the grand prize.  If there is a tie, all of the entrants with the highest number of correct answers will be entered into a random drawing for the grand prize.  There will be second and third prizes, either awarded based on the next highest numbers of correct answers, or in the case of a tie, randomly drawn from the tied winners.

There are three prizes up for grabs.  Grand prize winner has first choice of which prize he/she would like, followed by the second prize winner.  Prizes are:

Stenciled Easter Treat Bags

Ready or not, friends, it's coming!  Easter is just around the corner!  Here in the Artsy House, Little Crafter has been begging to make some holiday crafts.  In fact, if you noticed a huge deluge of pins on his Pinterest board a few days ago, let me assure you that they're really all hand-pinned by the little man!  He made me type "Easter Crafts" in the search bar and then started clicking like crazy.  True story.

Anyway, we didn't have everything we needed on hand to make any of the things he pinned and he decided it was too cold for a trip to the store, so I pulled out some canvas bags I had left from a project last year and let him go to town making these:

Materials:
- canvas bags
- cardstock or newspaper
- fabric paint
- sponge brushes or daubers
- stencils {ours are Martha Stewart}

Step 1: Place some cardstock or newspaper in your bag to prevent paint from going through to the other side.

Step 2: Use fabric paint and a sponge brush or dauber to apply paint to the bag using desired stencils.

That's really all there is to it.  Just make sure you don't put your stencils or your hand down in wet paint, and you're good.  Let it dry completely before filling the bag.

I have to say just for the record that I learned an important lesson while doing this project with Little Crafter. Gone are the days when I design a project and help him to execute it my way.  No, friends, from now on, his projects are truly his projects.  I had a design in mind, but he knew exactly what he wanted, and so I let him go for it.  He came up with both of these designs 100% on his own.  He chose the stencils, where they went, and what colors to use.  Pretty good, huh?  I guess starting him early paid off!

LC also did all the stenciling himself except that I helped with the "Happy Easter."  I held the stencils in place and he did the paint work...which means I ended up with a lovely "crafter's manicure."  Did you know fabric paint doesn't like to come off of skin?  Yeah.  Me neither.

I think they turned out just adorable, and he is beyond thrilled with them.  It's cute to see how proud he is of his handiwork...he wants to show it to everyone, so he's beside himself with excitement that I put it here for, as he says "everyone in the whole wide world" to see.

They're the perfect size for filling with candy and treats or with plastic eggs, which is what's in ours at the moment.  If you like them, I'd love for you to leave a little comment I can read to him...it would make his day!

Crafty Ladies Spring Projects

Hey, friends!  Remember last month when I shared with you about the first ever meeting of my real-life "Crafty Ladies" group and the fun decorative wooden blocks we made?  Well, we recently got together again to have some more girl-time and craft therapy.  This time, more ladies were able to join us for our spring projects.  

We had two projects, decorated flowerpots and decorated wooden eggs.  Everyone had the same stash of supplies to use: fabric, paint, Mod Podge, ribbon, jute, stamps and Staz-On ink.  Once again, I was just amazed by how differently each person's projects turned out even though we all had the same choices of materials.  Take a look at some of the finished products:

My friend "Short Jess" decided to cut a butterfly out of a piece of fabric in my stash and Mod Podge it on top of a coordinating fabric.  Then, she added ribbon and left the very top natural.

My friend Kelly painted her pot and added "Live Simply, Live Hopeful" around the rim with alphabet stamps.  She decided to use her eggs as plant markers when she and her hubby plant vegetables and herbs this year.

Another butterfly lover, my friend Sarah, used fabric on her flowerpot and painted her eggs in various spring colors.

My mom, Sherl, covered her pot in turquoise polka dot fabric and a contrasting bow.  She decorated her eggs with spring-y ribbon and small flowers.

My girl Erin, who I'm sure you remember from the Christmas Handprint Plaque and various other crafty adventures, made this fun flowerpot covered in turquoise fabric and eggs stamped with special words.

I am loving the pink eggs made by my friend Tall Jess...she trimmed scrapbook paper with pinking shears, wrapped it around the painted eggs, and finished it off with some twine.  She also used fun green fabric on her flowerpot and a wired twine accent.

I'm crazy about the eggs my friend Jenni made: "He is...Risen, Lord, Friend, Savior." Love it!  Her pot turned out gorgeous too, covered in fabric and finished off with a ribbon accent.

And me?  Well, I stamped some words on the eggs, then used my Martha Stewart dauber to add colored polka dots.  I like the way they look arranged in this basket I found.

And my pot?  Well...it speaks for itself, doesn't it?  Who saw that one coming?
