Un-Giveaway and Random Thoughts

Hey, friends!  First of all, I want to thank you for your support of One Artsy Mama's first ever un-giveway for the cure.  I need to give a few shoutouts to the following aMAzing ladies:
First, thanks to those who contributed their fabulous items and hosted auctions:

Nicole at Three's{4}Me
Andie Jaye at Crayon Freckles
Suzanne at WhyCuzICan

You all inspire me and I am proud to "know" you.

Second, thanks to all the bidders:

April, Carmella, Mary, Kadie, Ellen, Rachel, MamaBear07, Angie, Sheri, Amanda Anne, Andie, Mitralee, and West_Starlight

We couldn't have done it without you!
High bidders will be contacted by the blogger whose items they won.

Thanks to you, together we raised $250 to help find a cure!
I am so thankful and so humbled to be a part of something like this where we come together to use the gifts we've been given and our concern for others to make a difference in this world.  Thank you again.

I also promised on Facebook that I'd randomly choose one bidder to receive this bonus prize, a digital fall card.  The winner was Mitralee.  Mitralee, please email me the photo you'd like me to use as well as the text you want on the card at dancers4life{at}gmail{dot}com!

Now that the un-giveaway is over {I know, you're thinking "Whew, now she'll stop tweeting and Facebooking about it!"}, it's time to look ahead to a few more exciting things coming up here at One Artsy Mama for the rest of the month.  First, do you like the new background?  It was time for an update, but I didn't want to lose the color scheme and the overall feel.  Whaddya think?  And, we have these fun things coming up:

Wednesday 10-26: Kayla from Sweet Anne Designs and I are swapping blogs for the day!  She'll be showing you how to make an adorable notepad with some free printables, and I'll be over at Sweet Anne showing you how to make a glittery Christmas ornament out of sheet music! {Don't hate me because I'm a Christmas-a-haulic!}

Thursday 10-27: Melanie from Bear Rabbit Bear is featuring my Etsy shop and hosting a blog button giveaway from yours truly.
I'll also be sharing features from the CSH link party here that day.

Friday 10-28: Time for a new Fall Challenge!  Hmmm...can anyone possibly guess what the theme might be?  Golly, I don't know...

Plus, I'm less than ten followers away from the big 500!
Of course I'll need to celebrate, but how?  Ideas?

Un-Giveaway for the Cure

It's time!  Time to make a difference.  Time to find a cure.
Here's how you and I can play a part together.

You know I love to make jewelry.  And so, I decided to make a very special, one-of-a-kind piece to represent Breast Cancer Awareness.  To honor survivors, remember those who fought the battle, and remind us all that there is hope.  Hope for a cure.  Hope for a brighter tomorrow.

Here is the "Hope" Pendant.

So, how does this work?  Basically, we're going to hold a silent auction.
If you are interested in owning this piece, you simply leave a comment with a bid for how much you are willing to pay.  100% of the proceeds will go directly to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
In addition, I promise to match the winner's donation.  The auction will be open until Sunday, October 23 at midnight EST.  On 10/24, I will announce and contact the person who placed the highest bid.  You may bid multiple times.  Bidding must increase in at least $1 increments. That's all there is to it.
You bid whatever you're willing to pay, knowing that it all goes to support the fight against breast cancer.
You check back and increase your bid if you want.
Then, if you are the highest bidder, you get this pendant and you and I both get to donate to a worthy cause.
It may not be a normal giveaway, but I say we're all going to be winners.

I'm also excited to announce that several other fabulous crafty bloggers I know have agreed to participate in this ungiveaway and are offering items for bid on their blogs.  You can check them out here:

pink pouch

Healing Basket, including her favorite movie, lotion, a kitchen spatula, and a wine glass!

pink Hope Scarf

pink teddy bear {so this little guy will be in a pretty pink!}

Rose Bracelet

Inspirational Art Print

pink ribbon business card holder, checkbook cover, tea wallet, and notebook cover
{PS: Suzanne's hubby Kevin is battling stage 4 kidney cancer, so say a prayer for him!}

PS - Check out my guest post at Crafty, Scrappy, Happy today to see a little more information about how I made this necklace.  And tomorrow, I get to co-host Jaime's link party!  Squeaaal!  Could I be any more excited??

An Un-Giveaway?

Giveaways are awfully popular out here in blogland
...in fact, there's one going on here at OAM right now!
You do a few things, leave comments about them, and if you're lucky, you win really cool stuff!
In the past six months, I've won two necklaces, a pair of earrings, several fabric flower headbands, a fun photo print, and some stamped notecards just by entering various giveaways I've come across.

But tomorrow, I'm trying something new.
Different.
Special.
One Artsy Mama is hosting its very first un-giveaway.
What?
What in the world is an UN-giveaway?
I'm glad you asked.

An un-giveaway functions much like a silent auction.  I have something special and handmade that I'd like to give away, but to win, instead of randomly choosing a winner, the item will go to the highest bidder.
And here's the best part.  The money?  It all {yes, ALL} goes to the Susan G. Komen Foundation to help find a cure for breast cancer.  Basically, here's how it works.  Tomorrow, I will share with you the item up for grabs.  If you're interested in owning it and in helping support the fight against breast cancer at the same time, all you have to do is leave a comment on that post {not this one, THAT one} telling me how much you're willing to donate to the cause.  That's it!  Then, check back and if someone outbid you and you're willing to go higher, you can comment again with a new bid {increasing in $5 increments}.  On Sunday, the bidding closes at midnight and the high bidder wins.  Sound good?
Good.
And I have another special announcement.  I'm not the only one offering up something you can bid on!
The ladies at these fabulous blogs are playing along too, so be sure you check them out tomorrow to see what's up for grabs!  You won't be disappointed!
